A romantic novel at its core, this book deals with the complex issues of marriage and mature love. Centered around the older and much-married Devika and a handsome younger filmmaker, Shaurjyo. The narrative moves back and forth in time is in the form of memoirs of Devika and Shaurjyo, giving the reader a complex yet extremely engaging picture of the life of the protagonists and how their love sustains itself and evolves over the years.
This is a matured and complex tangle of human feelings and emotions against the backdrop of the large and imposing mansion in Sonarpur, in West Bengal, that is Devika’s refuge.
